One of my favorite weekends is coming up! In our church, we have a semi-annual conference with our prophet and leaders. We watch 6-8 hours of meetings on TV. Since that is a lot of time sitting with the kids, I like to have a variety of activities for them to do to help them stay focused. General Conference is great because we stay home and spend quality time together…usually in our PJs. We like to sleep in and have a nice, big breakfast! Then we all snuggle on our couch in our comfy clothes, with blankets, and get all of our notebooks, and markers and things to do out.
I like to print off things in advance to have them ready for my kids. I usually choose 1-2 pages from each of these. I make each kid a pile of pages of things to do.
When they were younger I printed stuff like these:
- Coloring pages: HERE or HERE.
- Conference notebook, or conference fun book click HERE.
- Bingo: HERE,
- Draw the speaker. HERE.
- Cute Train, color tie with apostles pics HERE.
- Articles of Faith Coloring Pages. Here or Here.
- Coloring pages: HERE
- Conference notebook, or conference fun book click HERE. I like to skim through and only print the pages that I love.
- Bingo: HERE,
- Cute Train and color tie with apostles pictures HERE.
- Articles of Faith Coloring Pages. Here or Here.
- Punch the Point cards. Here
Now that they are older we like to do more of these:
- Color while we listen: Big kid coloring books, Markers, gel pens,
- Printable conference notebook.
- I Spy Conference page (Just change the name of the prophet). Here
- Coloring pages: Here, Here, or Here
- Conference Sketchnotes.
- Printable Speaker Notes
- Word Search
- Note Page
- Conference Maze
- M&M Conference handout (to ask questions beforehand)
My oldest daughter now just likes to take notes. She has printed pictures of the prophets/apostles stuck on a regular notebook. Example Here. We don’t usually do snacks during conference because we have a gigantic breakfast…pancakes or french toast, hashbrowns, bacon or sausage, orange julius, muffins, fruit, or whatever else we feel like.
“There will be lots of talks, but there really is only one speaker.”
This is seriously one of the most relaxing and motivational weekends of the year. And the best part is that I get to do it with my family. What traditions do you have for conference? I’d love to hear what you do!
